Michael Arrington created much fuss about nothing yesterday for the constant shuffle in "Is" on Facebook. Wonder why he was crying about it? Not being overly critical of him though, there was another feature update. It is related to the ill-famous Facebook Beacon.
Facebook Beacon is quite irritating in certain aspects. Especially when it comes to some aspects of shopping. Like Nick mentioned sometimes it can cause problems, for daughters. However, to solve that particular problem users can now opt-out of notifications from their profile. Having said that it is not enough, this is a small step towards security. There’s a greater need to make it more secure

Facebook finally caved to user demands and has agreed to drop the “is” from status updates. Now you can say things like “Jordan loves to update her status every hour” instead of “Jordan is loving to update her status every hour.”
As you would imagine, Facebook is littered with groups demanding this change, including the Campaign to lose the mandatory “is” from status updates and, my favorite, I die a little bit inside when I see grammatically incorrect status updates.
And I do, y’all. I do.
Allfacebook.com reports that the new status template will be in effect as of tonight, so get your old-school incorrectness out of your system today while you still can.

A Facebook group with 121 members is going all out to save 31 post offices across south wales. The campaign had gone online a little while back with efforts of Plaid Cymru who is Assembly Member for South Wales Central Leanne Wood.
According to the site’s declaration “We call on Post Office Limited to reconsider its closure programme of 31 branches across Cardiff and the Glamorgan Valleys. Post offices are an invaluable economic and social resource for our communities.”
There’s another statement which says, “We are committed to reinstating the Post Office Development Fund, exploring with local government colleagues ways in which post offices might be better used for local authority, business and other local services.”
It is popular belief that post office would take notice if the group continues to grow and make waves.

Although, this would be a rare possibility for Facebook users but assuming they do want to leave how hard or how simple is the process? Do the users just have to press a delete button and in one go everything goes-off ? Not really, as as the users have to repeat the action for quite a few items..
To delete your face book account you need to scrap off this -
1)Delete your photo
2)Delete Comments and messages you wrote
3)Delete all your photo albums.
4)Delete your friends from your friends list. Leave all your networks and groups you have joined.
Is this infringement of law or not? Well, according to the terms stated Facebook copyrights user data and other info on its website.
Apparently, Facebook has stated that it doesn’t use the information from deleted account. Moreover, it seems that Facebook is using the deleted information for marketing campaigns and much hyped Social Ads.
What do you guys think is Facebook doing the right thing by complicating deletion of your Facebook account ?

If you’ve used a fictitious name or have played around with your name on Facebook, then you aren’t allowed to change it. This quite clearly means that you’ve to be careful as well as wise enough to pick the right name for yourself. It has happened in multiple cases that users have/had tried to change their Facebook names with no success.
Take the example of Elizabeth Kuh, a junior at the University of California-San Diego, majoring in international studies and Middle Eastern studies. In real, her true name is Kristin and she has user her first name as her middle name on Facebook. However, later on when she tried to change the name it didn’t work out.
"I took my first name off because, well, I’m not really sure why," Kuhn told me. (Full disclosure: I know her personally. We are Facebook friends. That’s how I knew about her name dilemma in the first place.) "I think I was wondering how long it would take before people actually thought my name was Elizabeth." It was a sort of experiment to test the power of Facebook, she explained.
According to Elizabeth/Caroline
"The problem is that I soon realized I didn’t really care and started to miss my first name." So she tried to change it back. "Nothing happened," she said. "So I tried again, and again, over a couple weeks, but to no avail. It just wouldn’t change. Then finally on one try, instead of ignoring my request as usual, up came a nasty message in red about how due to one of my previous attempts being rejected, I had been banned from using the name-change application for two weeks."
Infact if she meets new people, they think her actual name is Elizabeth and not Caroline
