FWD Releases Application That Let’s You Leave Voicemail Messages For Facebook Friends
Free World Dialup (FWD) a company started by voice pioneer and Facebook evangelist Jeff Pulver has released VoiceMail, a Facebook application that allows users to send their Facebook friends voice messages. The VoiceMail application is easy to use. Simply visit the Facebok profile of a friend that has the Facebook VoiceMail application, “click send user a Voicemail” and using your headset you can leave a message for your friend.
The application uses a sleek java applet to record the voice message that is simple and easy to use.
In terms of Facebook applications, it is not the most complex or interactive, and the fact that the voice mails are limited to 20 seconds in length is sort of unfortunate as this could be an excellent application for Facebook business users. Even with this downside, it is still an excellent application and should be one of the more popular Facebook application as the word continues to get out about it.

In fairness, I must say this is one of the clunkiest apps I’ve ever used, on or off facebook. The java applet takes forever to load, I’ve heard it crashes the browser in some instances. The sound quality is marginal at best…let’s say I’ve had better experiences on some skype calls. I think for this application to be truly useful, it’s going to have to be rethought, reengineered and redeployed. Good idea, poor implementation. Sorry guys!
