Google News Facebook Application

Google is the latest giant to jump into the Facebook application space with its News Reader. Google has announced a Facebook application that enables users to receive customer inside Facebook itself. While adding application, user can pick and choose custom topics to receive news about from within Facebook. Google News calls these as “news sections”.

This in a way is similar to the famous Google Alert utility except the fact that a user receives the headline and article snippet to his Facebook profile page instead of an email. Thus a user can see new articles of his friends and share important stories with his friends.

It looks like Google has started developing a special liking for Facebook and it all started from Danny Sullivan’s conversation with Google’s Marissa Mayer who said that Facebook is her favorite non-Google service.

There are various Facebook applications for Google which enable interaction with Google products. For example Calendar, Talk, and Reader (there’s even a non-official Google News application) within Facebook, but they weren’t created by Google.
