A new Facebook book application is combining two giants in their own spheres. This application called merges Facebook and virtual world Second Life.
Users can display their Second Life avatar with this application and also indicates whether a particular user is online or offline in the virtual world. Similarly, if other users have installed application it is easy to identify that with their online avatars.
With the new application users can share their favorite locations in the virtual world.

Been there, done that! Give me something that will let me IM with residents inside SL and I might be a little more excited. If I want to know who’s online, I’ll just frigging log in. What’s the point of knowing who’s online or sharing LMs if you’re not in-world, anyway? Geesh.
Did you see the other features we offer? Displaying the online status is just one thing our app can do. The real power lies in being able to place your sl friends names beside their rl names… which effectively enhances the social networking element SL is now lacking… give it ago, this is just phase I, we plan on rolling out new features soon!
Cheers
