New Feature Will Allow You to Group Friends by What They Can See

Facebook is now working to add a new feature to the platform that will allow users to group friends by what you want them to see about you. While this is a step in the right direction, the grouping feature that will soon be released in not enough. As many have noted, the ability to better organize friends by who, why or what they are is something that help make Facebook more functional as a life management platform rather than just a social network.

Facebook Now Competing With It’s Developers

As time goes on, if the functionality is mainstream enough, Facebook is going to develop it internally and integrate it into the platform. Things such as basic communications, messaging and management which are some of most popular of Facebook applications now, will eventually become standard Facebook built features of the platform leaving developer out of luck. Facebook will continue to use the f8 program as a test market for finding out what users really want on the back of largely unpaid developers. If you are a Facebook application developer the time is now to figure out which features Facebook will never natively adopt and begin building those niche, granular applications as the more common features and functionality will like be recreated by Facebook after your al your hard work.
