Facebook along with Internet giant Yahoo has joined the battle again rising levels of child abuse. Facebook is giving free ad space to a new campaign bychildren’s charity the NSPCC.
According to Sunday Mirror, The advertising campaign which launches all over the UK tomorrow “Calls on people to do more to help spot the signs of abuse and speak up if they have real suspicions.”
Apparently, here are 100 new cases of child cruelty or neglect reported every week - almost 5,000 a year. NSPC quotes that the true scale of problem could be much greater as there are thousands of cases going unreported.
The click through advertisements on Facebook will allow users to visit NSPCC website from the social networking platform. Facebook has been selected because of its popularity in Britain. Facebook has about 2.5million Britons as registered site members.
The campaign, Be The Full Stop, will also involve help packs sent out to all primary and secondary school teachers, and adverts in the Press and on TV and billboards.
