Via nytimes - Post requests by New York State prosecutors, Facebook has agreed to post warning about the dangers to children. Further, Facebook will also provide quick response to user complaints about explicit sexual messages.
Primarily, these changes are part of settlement with the New York attorney general, Andrew M. Cuomo, whose office have been scrutinizing the website for children’s safety from sexual predators.
Under the settlement, Facebook will now clearly mention that it does not guarantee that its users will not be subjected to illegal or inappropriate contact. In addition Facebook will bar children under 13 from the site and suggest supervision of parents.
Facebook has also agreed to create easy-to-find links for site users to report sexually inappropriate conduct or content on the site.
