Facebook user profiles now on search engines

Trying to locate your long lost dearest friend ? Well actually, it is quite easy than you thought it to be. Just use the big daddy of internet to search for his or her name and Boom! Facebook information about your friend is right here. Yep, that’s correct according to latest news, Facebook is following Wink and PeekYou’s footsteps by publicly listing its member profiles on Google, Yahoo and other popular search engines.

This news does mean that Facebook is trying to build a global directory which lists user details like CV, hobbies and friend details. Search engine listings will also provide Facebook tremendous boost to its advertising revenues from the likes of Google.

I further believe that the philosophy behind this move could be to give a fair idea about user’s behavioral preferences. For e.g. what do the users do? what do they like and so on.

There has been an exponential rise in Facebook sign-ups and according to news estimates everyday 200,000 people sign up for Facebook.
