Via Reuters - Facebook and The State attorney general of New York have decided to settle the issue of child safety probe primarily aimed at Facebook. However, the terms of agreement were not immediately available.
The Attorney General at NewYork, Andrew Cuomo has plans to hold a press conference on Tuesday where he could possibly announce the major developments with other social networking websites. No other comment was made from Cuomo’s office before Manhattan conference. Similarly there was no response from Facebook’s spokeswoman.
Last month, Cuomo had commisioned Facebook to understand the best practices the social networking site could adopt for the protection fo young users from sexual assualters. Facebook had been under a bit of pressure for failing to take prompt actions to user complaints about such issues pertaining to safety. In addition, Facebook is under scrutiny by a working group of attorneys general representing all 50 U.S. states.
