While taking my morning tea, I read two news items today. Both of them equally interesting, both have addresses the hot topic which is circulating across the industry - "About Facebook’s involvement/thoughts on OpenSocial." The only difference is that the thoughts in both the articles are heading in "Diametrically Opposite Directions."
The first one has been written by Caroline McCarthy at News.com and the other one by Wired.com’s Terrence Russell.
The head
line of the article is "Report: Facebook investor hints at possible OpenSocial collaboration".
Let us see what Caroline talks about :
Peter Kafka’s interaction with Facebook investor and board member - Jim Breyer of Accel Partners reveals that Facebook could possibly collaborate with Open Social.
According to the article, "Jim said that the company isn’t philosophically opposed to what Google is trying to do, and that its business model isn’t dependent on keeping its social network gated," Kafka wrote in the Alley Insider post. "He also acknowledged that users will want to be able to port their data, networks, connections, etc., from Facebook to other networks, and vice versa, and suggested that something like that may be possible within a year."

The headline of Terrence Russell’s article is "Facebook Claims to be Out of the OpenSocial Loop" .
The remarks made by Brandee Barker, Facebook’s Corp. Communications Director are different.
Brandee Barker told Techncrunch,"When we have had a chance to understand the technology, then Facebook will evaluate participation relative to the benefits to its 50 million users and 100,000 platform developers."
Interesting isn’t it? What do you guys think is happening ?
