The Marketplace roundup: Wanna buy a monkey?

Sometimes I like to prowl around on the Marketplace to see what kinds of fun things I could buy and sell. It’s like window shopping, except the window is the size of the world and I can shop in my PJs. Some items are sweet, some are weird, and some make me laugh. Here’s some of the stuff I found today:

Wanna buy a monkey?

“Cute capuchin. She is very very loving and so sweet, can give you 5, and kisses and hugs, Don’t miss out on this one.”

Need more friends?

“World’s first internet attention broker at your service. ”

Boy Seeks Dog

“I’ve been wishing and hoping for a dog for some time now. When I lived in SF it was nearly impossible. Now that I’m living with my mom it is a possibility again. She has told that she feels it’s a bad time. But maybe I can change her mind. I don’t care what kind.”

Win an MRI Machine

“Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital could use a lot of votes if they are to win an MRI machine. “

Just a comment about the “Monkey for Sale” ad that you mentioned above…this is probably a scam! I run several sites that have classified ads on them, and I get this sort of ad all the time. People are also trying the same thing with American Bulldog puppies. The scam is that when you contact the person about the animal, they tell you that there is a $xxx adoption fee, which needs to be paid in advance. I suppose that when people think they are buying an animal, there is less of a chance they will get ripped off from a trustworthy animal breeder, so they send the money more easily then if it had been for a car, etc. Who is going to think that a dog breeder is going to rip you off? Well, these people don’t have any animals at all, at they will run with your money as soon as you get it.

Send that guy an email, and I’ll bet you that he responds with a similar request!
